This weekend is going to be sick. Real sick! Better start resting up because good things are going down in the Bangem starting with:

I heard Grabbag was playing too. That means like the best synth-punk, Casio punk and straight-up Southern punk bands will be appearing at the best little boozehole in Springfield. Plus three badass out-of-town bands.

Facebook Event Page (RSVP!!!)

Eagle Scout (Greenville) – post-punk kinda like Les Savy Fav
Eagle Scout
Currents by Eagle Scout.

Lost Apparitions (Iowa) – melodic, poppy yet a little psychedelic
Lost Apparitions
Denial On The River Nile (NEW SONG) by lost apparitions (Entire CD up for Streaming).

Then on Saturday you can catch me slangin Beard Bandanas and grooming my facial follicles as JaxBeard, Burro, RAM and others present the Beards @ RAM Beard and Mustache Contest. Come out, cop a bandana and cheer your boy on to VICTORY!

Facebook Event Page

Then the 2009 Southern League MiLB champs, da Suns, go up against the Mobile BayBears to clinch the first half of the season. Camouflage hats y’all!

But wait, there’s more…

Sunday, Sunday, Suday

Capt Gravy and his crew of skateboarding deviants will be racing from Shantytown Pub to Lomax Lodge. There’s like one flyer but nothing digital yet so you’ll have to take my word for it. I guess if you are participating in this you probably already know the score but either way you should come kick it at the Lo-Lo for the afterparty and pre-game for…

Mu-fuggin Surfer Blood and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart at Jack Rabbits(?!).

I reviewed Surfer Blood’s debut album Astro Coast for EU back in like December and got the chance to see them with Monotonix at Cafe Eleven. These boys are barely out of high school and are already killing it not to mention pulling comparisons to early Weezer. Oh yeah, they FL boys too y’all! South Florida, but still. The whole state’s going to be swimming in oil before too much longer so we got to stick together!

I’m not that familiar with TPOBPAT but I just downloaded their latest 7″ that just came out yesterday (“press” only, sorry) and I’m pretay, pretay stoked for it.

Surfer Blood have a tasty little cover of the Beach Boys’ “Don’t Worry Baby” that you can download all day right here (via Stereogum).

And that about covers it. For a more comprehensive list of thins to do this weekend go to JaxScene ya dum-dum!
